To efficiently transfer large amounts of data, Nurion has established and operates dedicated data transfer nodes (DTNs) based on the Science DMZ for high-performance computing with large-scale data. To use Nurion DTN, you must first log in to the Globus Web App (https://globus.org). If you are a member of KAFE (https://www.kafe.or.kr), you can log in using your KAFE account without needing a separate registration.
You can request access to the DTN service through the "Technical Support -> Consultation" menu on the main website (https://www.ksc.re.kr) by selecting "Consultation Request" (Consultation Category: DTN, Consultation Type: DTN Account Issuance), and you will be able to access the /scratch directory. Therefore, all usage policies follow the /scratch policies of Nurion. (Files not accessed for more than 15 days will be deleted.)
※ It is advisable to store important data on your local system. For general technical support inquiries, please use the consult@ksc.re.kr email or the consultation board on the center's website (https://www.ksc.re.kr).
To make it easier to access the Globus Web App, it is recommended to download and install Globus Connect Personal (https://www.globus.org/globus-connect-personal). Visit the site and download the program suitable for your operating system, and install it. (Installation instructions are not provided in this guide. Please refer to the website for installation.)
※ Refer to Globus Connect Personal installation and configuration instructions :
https://docs.globus.org/how-to/globus-connect-personal-windows/
※ Refer to login instructions: https://docs.globus.org/how-to/get-started/
Once the program is installed, execute Globus Connect Personal, and an icon will appear in the Windows taskbar as shown in the image.
Right-clicking on the icon will display a simple menu.
From this menu, click "Web: Transfer Files" to transfer files using your web browser.
The appearance of the panel displayed in the browser can be changed from the top right of the "Web: Transfer Files" execution screen.
“Web: In the search bar on the "Transfer Files" execution screen, enter the keyword "nurion" and search. "KISTI_Nurion_DTNs" will appear in the search results.
Clicking on the search result will connect you to the /scratch directory on Nurion.
In the Globus Web App, select the data you want to transfer to your PC, then click the "Start" button at the top to begin the transfer. Additionally, you can directly transfer data from international centers registered with Globus to Nurion.
For example, "Climate segmentation benchmark data" or "CosmoFlow benchmark data" provided by NERSC can also be directly transferred to Nurion. In the search bar, using the same method as when searching for Nurion DTN, enter keywords (e.g., climate, cosmoflow, etc.), search for the desired data, and then initiate the transfer (by clicking the "Start" button at the top or by dragging and dropping with the mouse) to quickly transfer the data to Nurion.
Once the file transfer begins, a message saying "Transfer request submitted successfully" will appear in the top right corner of the window.
You can monitor the progress of the file transfer in the "ACTIVITY" tab on the left.
Clicking on the current data transfer request in the "ACTIVITY" tab will provide more detailed progress information.
Even if the window is closed, the file transfer will continue normally, and you will receive a confirmation email once the transfer is complete.
